Fun fact about Tracy –
I love Valentine’s day. It’s probably my third favorite holiday behind Christmas and Thanksgiving.
This Saturday at Craft Warehouse they had a free make and take project it was a cute little box with little paper Valentine’s fortune cookies in it. And even though Valentine’s day is still about a month away I am already a little excited about it.
I realize this is strange. I am the always single, twenty-one year old, white girl who has always spent the 14th of February alone. My breed is not supposed to like Valentine’s day, let alone love it. We are supposed to loathe it entirely and hatefully refer to it as “single’s awareness day”
Even now, while my heart is slightly bruised, I am looking forward to it.
I don’t really know why I love it so much. I don’t really like pink and I really don’t like those singing stuffed animals
But, I do love sappy movies, red velvet cake, love songs, chocolate and flowers. I never actually get chocolate or flowers on Valentine’s day (or any other day for that matter) And I’m okay with that.
I’m aware that Valentine’s day is just one big
There is just something about the idea of a day set apart to show others that we love them that makes me happy.
I know that we should show our love all the time, but too often we forget. Other life gets in the way and we just forget. We need a reminder. And even though Valentine’s Day is commercialized it is still an annual reminder that so many people need.
I am looking forward to my twenty-first Valentine’s Day, even if I have no one to share my red velvet cake with.
And even though Valentine’s Day is still a month away, I think I am going to start planning some Valentine’s fortune cookies and find a recipe for red velvet cookies to send to my friends
